All a Rescue Needs – Braveheart’s Story

Despite the passionate fraternity of rescue dog owners across the country, there are still a staggering number of people who misunderstand these animals. Many people, myself included only a few short years ago, are afraid of considering rescue adoption due to baseless beliefs that these animals are damaged, diseased, or even dangerous. It’s time for that perception to change.

RescuePledge.org is something I’ve been privileged enough to be involved with from its inception and the organization has only one core mission: raise awareness for rescue dogs and correct misunderstandings and negative perceptions surrounding these animals. Rescue dogs and breeder dogs alike learn behaviors based on their circumstances and the unarguably tougher circumstances that most rescue dogs find themselves often contributes to them being written off from the start. If you just give these dogs a chance, you’ll see they are as warm, loving, loyal, and eager to please as any breeder dog.

Anne & I consider ourselves very lucky to have a rescue dog in our lives. More importantly, we hope that our experience with Braveheart will inspire a change in how others view rescue animals and realize that all a rescue needs is a chance to be loved. But don’t take my word for it, I’ll let Braveheart tell his own story…
